Beijing time At 8pm. on October 18, the first Wushu Taolu Virtual Competition hosted by the International Wushu Federation kicks off online. The opening ceremony of the competition was presided over by IWUF Secretary General Mr. Zhang Qiuping. IWUF President Gou attended the opening ceremony online and delivered an opening speech. 2021 IWUF Wushu Taolu Virtual Competition (2021 WTVC) attracted nearly 1,000 wushu Taolu athletes from 61 countries and regions. This is the first online wushu competition held by the IWUF, and it is also the international competition focused on taolu event hosted by the IWUF with the largest number of wushu taolu athletes ever.
In his opening speech, President Gou pointed out that due to the pandemic, various events and activities of the IWUF in recent years have been postponed, which has had a certain impact on the training and life of the majority of athletes. However, we recognize that the difficulties are temporary, and we gather greater confidence and pass on hope in jointly coping with challenges. IWUF Wushu Taolu Virtual Competition 2021 provides a new platform for athletes from the five continents to communicate and improve in the form of “online wushu”.
In line with the IWUF’s drive towards gender equality, the athletes, judges and coaches each two representatives, in all six from five continents, took the oath at the opening ceremony of 2021 WTVC. The content of oath was also adjusted to highlight the importance of solidarity, inclusion, non-discrimination and equality.
There are 11 competition events including Changquan, Daoshu, Qiangshu, Jianshu, Gunshu, Taijijian, Taijiquan, Taijishan, Nanquan, Nandao and Nangun in three age groups – group A 12-14 years old, group B 15-17 years old and Group C 18 years old and above. Competition videos shall be shot and submitted through JUSTTOOL Competition Shooting Master APP.
In order to ensure the fairness and transparency of the competition, the whole competition events will be broadcast from 28 Oct. to 3 Nov. (Beijing time) through the IWUF official media platforms including WeChat, Douyin, QQ Live, Bilibili, Weibo, Wushu TV etc..
