The second course of 2023 IWUF International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Course was held successfully in Cairo, Egypt from June 8 – 14, 2023. This is the first time International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Course has been held in Africa.
This training and certification course attracted nearly 130 wushu judges from 35 countries and regions, and after the training, 103 wushu judges passed the exam and obtained corresponding certification. Up to now, two 2023 IWUF International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Courses have both concluded successfully, and nearly 370 wushu judges from 61 countries and regions in five continents participated in total; among them, 326 judges passed the exam.
Vice president of the IWUF, President of the African Wushu Kung Fu Federation (AFWF) and President of the Egyptian Wushu Federation, Sherif Mostafa, IWUF Judges’ Committee Chairman, Su Changlai, and the Minister of the Ministry Sports in Egypt, Dr. Ashraf Sobhy attended this course.
Sherif Mostafa is happy that the International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Courses been held successfully in Egypt, and staffs of the Egyptian Wushu Federation have been working hard to prepare this event. This is the first time an African country has held International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Courses, which has significant meaning, and the event also shows the national level of support for hosting international wushu events and activities in Egypt.
IWUF Judges’ Committee Chairman Su Changlai expressed that lots of outstanding wushu judges were trained in this course, and he expressed his gratitude to the Egyptian Wushu Federation for their hard work in hosting and organizing this event. He hopes that national and regional judges will continue to improve judging skills, play their role in national, regional and even international wushu events and activities to further promote the international popularity and development of wushu.
In this Training and Certification Course, IWUF sent 10 experienced lecturers, 5 for taolu and 5 for sanda. The IWUF International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Course is divided into taolu class and sanda class. In this 5-day-course, wushu judges conduct theoretical, technical practical and judging practical training and assessment on competition rules and judging methods, wushu taolu technical training and practice scoring analysis of different wushu taolu groups, wushu sanda calls and gestures, wushu sanda basic technical training and practicing, and scoring analysis of wushu sanda.
Participants of the course remarked that the lecturers are professional and detailed, and the courses are systematic and informative, while the combination of “theory + practice” training method is very beneficial. Moreover, the International Wushu Judges Training and Certification Courses learning material released by IWUF earlier offered sufficient learning time for trainees. During the course, trainees are able to communicate face-to-face with the lecturers and the training results were promising.
In addition, the Egyptian Wushu Federation organized a series of cultural experience activities, including a tour trip to the Pyramids and the Egyptian Civilization Museum and a cultural communication activity with an Egyptian wushu club. These activities provided a great opportunity for the participants to learn more about Egyptian history and culture.
