9th World Wushu Championships Concluded Successfully |

The 9th World Wushu Championships were concluded successfully in Beijing on Nov. 17 2007. This edition is of the largest scale in the history of Wushu. Over 1400 athletes, referees and officials from 89 countries and regions in five continents gathered in Beijing to attend the Championships in which 15 countries and regions won gold medals and 30 obtained silver or bronze. Athletes of 22 countries and regions ranked in the top 6 of 22 Wushu Taolu events (11 Men's and 11 Women's), while athletes of 21 countries and regions ranked in the top 8 of 18 Wushu Sanshou Categories (11 Men's and 7 Women's).
The 9th IWUF Congress was held successfully on Nov. 11 with 150 representatives participating. Currently the IWUF family has embraced 120 member federations. During the Congress the new IWUF leadership was elected. Mr. Yu Zaiqing was reelected as the President and Mr. Wang Xiaolin as the Secretary General. Moreover, Toronto will host the 10th World Wushu Championships in Oct. 2009.
