10th World Wushu Championships Concluded

10th World Wushu Championships and the 10th IWUF Congress
 
The 10th World Wushu Championships was held from October 24 to 29, 2009 in Toronto, Canada. The Championships was attended by 73 IWUF member federations with 567 athletes. The top three teams with most gold medals are: China (14), Iran (5), Egypt (3), Hong Kong, China (3) and Russia (3). There are 15 teams won gold medals. 
 
The 10th IWUF Congress was held on October 24, 2009. The Congress approved the amended IWUF Constitution, IWUF Anti-doping Rules (2009 version) and composition of IWUF Athletes’ Committee. 17 new national wushu federations were accepted as the IWUF Members. The Wushu Contribution Award was conferred to 9 IWUF member federations which have organized World Wushu Championships since 1991. The 24th IWUF Executive Committee meeting and other committee meetings were also held prior to the IWUF Congress. Many important issues concerning wushu development were discussed and determined. The 11th World Wushu Championships and IWUF Congress will be held in Izmir, Turkey in 2011.
