2010 Beijing International Wushu Judges Examination Course

 
All IWUF Member Federations,                                             
 
2010 International Wushu Judges Examination Course will be held in Beijing, China. The new candidates and existing international judge certificate holders who take part in the examination shall get ready for the examination according to the requirements of the Course. The detailed information and regulations are as follows:  
 
1.  Dates and Place
Dates: The Course will be held from August 18 to 24 2010.
Place: Beijing, China
 
2.  Eligibility of Participants
2.1  The new candidates
The candidates should:
--- Be citizens of the countries/regions of the IWUF member federations;
--- Have judging experience at national/ regional level or other important
competitions;
--- Have a certain command of Chinese or English required for officiation;
--- Be born after January 1 1960 and be in good health;
--- Each IWUF member federation may enter a maximum of 10 candidates (5 for taolu and 5 for sanda) to participate in the course.
2.2  The existing international judges for renewing their certificates should:
--- be international judge certificate holders
---The judges who were born between January 1 1955 and January 1 1960 should participate in the course, but they are exempted from the examination.
 
3.  Entry and Registration
3.1   The IWUF member federations should send the entry forms and hotel reservation forms to the Secretariat (together with three (3) passport size photos for each person) prior to June 18, 2010.
3.2   The participants should make registration in Beijing on August 19. The place of registration shall be informed in due course.  
 
4.  Grading Criteria and Certificate
4.1   The new candidates
4.1.1  Those who pass the examination will receive the Grade “C” certificates only for taolu judges and Grade “B” certificates for sanda judges. The International Judge Certificates of Grading and Badges will be conferred to them.
4.1.2 Those who can not pass the examination can not receive the Certificates. Only the Certificates of Participation will be conferred by the IWUF.
4.2   Existing international judge certificate holders
4.2.1  According to the “Detailed Regulations of Examination” (see attachment), the judges’ grading system will be adopted and the grades will be determined. New International Judge Certificates and Badges will be conferred if they pass the examination.
 
5. Financial Conditions
5.1 The fee of certificate and badge is US$ 50 per participant.  
5.2 US$75 per person per day (double room)
5.3 US$95 per person per day (single room)
5.4 US$60 per person per day (double room) for accompanying person
The above-mentioned costs include board, lodging, local transportation (airport – hotel – airport included), lectures, training, examination, venues, equipment, welcome and farewell banquets.
 
6.  Other Matters
The participants should read this notice and the attachment carefully and observe the requirements and rules. The IWUF has the authority to reject those who do not abide by the requirements and rules to participate in the examination. The concerned IWUF member federations and the participants shall bear all the consequences and expenses relating to it.
 
7.      Hotel and Training Venue
All participants will be accommodated by the IWUF Secretariat. Please send your hotel reservation form to the IWUF Secretariat at your earliest convenience.

Detailed Regulations of Beijing 2010 International Wushu
 Judges Examination Course
 
According to the “IWUF Judges Management Policy”, the judges are classified as:
Taolu: Grade “C”, Grade “B” and Grade “A”;
Sanda: Grade “B” and Grade “A”.
 
1.      Criteria:
1.1   The new candidates  
The judges who pass the examination will be graded as Grade “C” (Taolu) and Grade “B” (Sanda);
1.2  The existing international judges
- The taolu judges who are international judge certificate holders for 4 years can apply for upgrading their grades (from C to B, from B to A). However, they cannot be upgraded by skipping a grade.
- The sanda judges who are international judge certificate holders for 4 years can apply for upgrading their grades (from B to A).
-  Re-exam: The taolu and sanda judges who are international judge certificate holders for 4 years can apply to participate in the re-examination.
- Those judges who participated in the 2005 and 2006 Examination Courses and international judges certificates holders are requested to participate in the re-exam.
 
2.      Contents of the Examination
2.1     Taolu (new candidates and those for upgrading)
, Changquan, Jianshu, Daoshu, Qiangshu, Gunshu, Nanquan, Taijiquan International Competition Routine; 42 forms Taijijian, Nandao and Nangun Compulsory Routines
2.1.1  Grade “C”
-      Theory: Taolu competition rules
-      Techniques: Candidates must choose and perform 1 of the 3 bare-hand routines e.g. Changquan, Taijiquan and Nanquan plus 1 apparatus routine
-      Practical examination: Analyzing and judging on either live or video performances
2.1.2  Grade “B”
-      Theory:   Taolu competition rules
-      Techniques: Candidates must choose and perform 2 of the 3 bare-hand routines e.g. Changquan, Taijiquan and Nanquan plus 1 apparatus routine
-              Practical examination: Analyzing and judging on either live or video performances
2.1.3  Grade “A”
-      Theory:   Basic theories of Wushu (Taolu) and the Taolu competition rules
-      Techniques: Candidates must perform Changquan, Taijiquan and Nanquan and 1 Apparatus routine
-      Practical examination: Analyzing and judging on either live or video performances
2.2   Re-exam at the same grade (Taolu)
Practical examination: Analyzing and judging on either live or video performances
2.3     Sanda  (new candidates and those for upgrading)
2.3.1        Grade “B”
-      Theory: Rules and judging law of Sanda competition.
-      Techniques: Perform one bare-hand routine and basic skills plus fight in action
-      Practical examination: Judging on either live or video sparring performances
2.3.2        Grade “A”
-      Theory:   Basic wushu theory, rules and judging law of Sanda competition
-      Techniques: Perform one bare-hand routine and basic skills plus fight in action
-   Practical examination: Judging either live or video sparring performances.
2.4   Re-exam at the same grade (Sanda)
-  Sanda competition rules and judging law of Sanda competition
-  Practical examination: Analyzing and judging on either live or video performances
 
Note: The Rules for International Wushu Competition (2005) are the basis for preparing for the Course.
