40th IWUF Executive Board Meeting Held Successfully

On November 15, 2023 (local time), the 40th International Wushu Federation Executive Board meeting was held successfully in Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

The meeting listened to 2022-2023 Work Report by the Secretary General Mr. Zhang Qiuping and 2022 Annual Financial Report by the Treasurer Mr. Ang Mong Seng.

In his report, Secretary-General Zhang Qiuping elaborated on the achievements of the IWUF in 2023, including successfully hosting the 9th World Kungfu Championships in Emeishan, Wushu Compeititon at the 31 st FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China and Wushu Compeititon at SportAccord World  Combat Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and other international wushu events. In line with the requirements of the Youth Olympic Games, the IWUF constantly consolidate the foundation of training and competition, and carry out a number of highlight projects such as the selection of outstanding wushu athletes, the construction of “AI Wushu”, and Wushu Online Classroom.

In addition, the Executive Board listened to the rounds of preparation reports for the 2023-2025 events including the 16th World Wushu Championships, the 4th World Taijiquan Championships, the 3rd Taolu World Cup, the 10th Sanda World Cup and 10th World Kungfu Championships.

The Executive Board also listened to bidding statements and voted to determine the locations for the 2024 and 2026 World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC). Brunei won the right to host the 9 th WJWC in 2024 and China won the right to host the 9 th WJWC in 2026.

The meeting also heard the bidding statements from Brazilian Wushu Confederation for the 17th World Wushu Championships in 2025, from Wushu Federation of Philippines for  the 18th World Wushu Championships in 2027 and from Wushu General Association of Macau for the 19th World Wushu Championships in 2029. The final bid results will be determined by the 16th IWUF Congress.

The Executive Board voted to accept National Kungfu Federation of Honduras and Equatoguinean Federation of Kungfu as IWUF provisional members. This is the first time that two countries have national organizations that govern the sport of wushu in their countries and apply to join the IWUF. The final decision on their application for  IWUF’s membership will be submitted to the 16th IWUF Congress for voting.

The next IWUF Executive Board Meeting will be scheduled in early 2024 in Beijing, China.
