The successful Open Flanders Wushu Cup 2015 and the Belgian Wushu Championships were held in Dendermonde, Belgium, on April 25, hosting over 200 athletes from 6 different countries. The event consisted of Sanda and Taolu (modern and traditional), including youth and adult categories. This flagship event is held every two years. Many youth wushu practitioners participated, and more than 100 VIPs attended the event, including the Belgium NOC, the city mayor, and many spectators from the Flemish community.
Patrick Van Campenhout, the President of Belgium Wushu Federation, said, "We received many of positive reactions from everyone. More and more young participants are taking part in the event, and I think wushu can help building the mind and body for people, especially the youth."
Campenhout also notes, "We had the pleasure to have as a Belgian Olympic medalled athlete Ilse Heylen (Judo hero from the NOC of Belgium) as an honored guest, and also the NOC of Belgium was represented by Dr. Jan Verstuyft, Executive member NOC Belgium."
