IWUF International Wushu Judges Training & Certification Course in Pordenone, Italy
Italian Judge and His Experience at the the IWUF International Wushu Judges Training & Certification Course in Pordenone, Italy
IWUF International Wushu Judges Training & Certification Course in Pordenone, Italy certified 26 taolu and 41 sanda participants.
IWUF and FIWUK wushu judge Barbagallo Salvatore Carmelo attended this course in Italy in order to test his skills and raise his international taolu judges grade. He tells us of his experience, beginning, “This past June of 2018 I took part in the IWUF International Wushu Judges Training & Certification Course in Pordenone, Italy. I had already attended the same course in Catania, 4 years before, obtaining the degree of B judge, but now my goal was to be promoted to grade A, and I did it. During the course there were many interesting moments, starting from the seminar lecture of Executive Vice President Anthony Goh who presented important developments for wushu in the world, and continuing with the innovations of the regulations introduced, which in my opinion will raise the technical and martial level of wushu sport.
Thanks to the experience that I have acquired during these events and thanks to the support of my federation, I tried to transmit this information even within the Italian national championships, creating a computer system composed of computers and screens with an operation similar to the one used during IWUF international championships, and which we have used for the first time in the recent Fiwuk national championships of 2018. I hope this will will lead to an increase in the technical level of Italian judges and athletes in the coming years. I think that in order to raise one's level every judge needs three fundamental points: study, practice, and experience, and in my opinion it is important that every judge very thoroughly knows the regulations of the disciplines he evaluates; at the same time it is indispensable that the same judge also practices wushu actively to fully understand what is being evaluated. Finally a continuous training in evaluating different performances at each level is also important, because for a judge it is essential to have a ready eye and mind.
