On the evening of November 30th, the opening ceremony of the 2018 IWUF World Wing Chun Open Competition was held in Shishan People's Square, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, China.
 
IWUF Executive Vice President Anthony Goh, IWUF Secretary General and President of the Chinese Wushu Association Zhang Qiuping, Foshan Municipal Sports Bureau Director Wei Qiwen, Foshan High-tech Industrial Development Zone Director, and Deputy Secretary of the Nanhai District Party Committee Liu Taogen, Nanhai District Standing Committee Member Li Yan and Grandmaster Ip Man' s son, Ip Chun, and other leaders attend this ceremony.

This competition is hosted by the IWUF, and organized by the Chinese WushuAssociation, the Guangdong Wushu Association, and the Foshan High-tech Zone Management Committee. This inaugural international competition was designed to provide a platform for communication and exchanges between Wing Chun practitioners from all over the world. The competition is open to a wide range of participants of all ages and different styles of Wing Chun. This also marks an innovative push by the IWUF to promote the development of traditional kungfu and participation in all wushu styles.
 
Competition Launch
 
The 2018 WWCC is held in Shishan, the center of the Foshan High-tech Zone from December 1-2, with two groups (Group A and Group B) for foreign teams and domestic participants. Competition events include individual routine events, choreographed sparring events, skill demonstration events and free combat events; four events will include all-around combined competition. These events have attracted more than 1000 athletes (among which are more than 200 international participants) from over 100 training schools in countries and regions such as Ukraine, China, United States, Nigeria, Russia, Pakistan, Algeria, Cyprus, Canada, India, Hong Kong, China and other countries and regions.
 
Concurrent with this competition, Foshan High-tech Zone is also hosting other activities that combine business, culture, tourism, music, and other elements such as a youth Wing Chun demonstration, an original Wing Chun stage play, and a Wing Chun music festival. Of particular note, during this competition the "Yong Yao World" Wing Chun Cultural Forum will be held. Experts and scholars from home and abroad, including many kungfu celebrities, will present and discuss in-depth and comprehensive research on the standardization and internationalization of Wing Chun.
