Dear Wushu Colleagues and Friends,
Welcome to our festive global celebration of wushu on the 7th World Wushu-Kungfu Day!
This year’s theme is Wushu: Harmony, Health & Happiness. Wushu offers the attributes of strengthening the body, self-defense, and mental and physical cultivation; it also embodies the concept that “forces of martial arts are to be used only for the maintenance of peace and order,” “the harmony between the heaven and mankind,” and “harmonious coexistence.” Wushu is a common treasure of all mankind, and represents the common values of all humanity; it plays a positive role for global harmony, healthy society and happiness in life.
Under the joint efforts of all colleagues in the wushu community, the development of global wushu has entered a new phase, the sport of wushu is flourishing, and wushu culture is harmoniously progressing. After being elected as IWUF president, I attended the 16th World Wushu Championships last fall in Fort Worth and the 2024 International Wushu Invitational Tournament this past spring in Jiangsu. At these events I witnessed vigorous development of global wushu, and felt the unity and love of the international wushu family. I am more and more confident about the bright future of the global sport of wushu.
The activities of the past six editions of World Wushu-Kungfu Day have been wonderful and enthusiastic. To highlight the achievements, the IWUF established the World Wushu-Kungfu Day Awards, recognizing the various best WWKD events and celebrations around the world. Last year we were most impressed with the award winners. Today, I warmly invite all wushu enthusiasts on every continent to celebrate this 7th World Wushu Kungfu Day, demonstrating your energy, creativity and spirit, and I eagerly await seeing all the vigorous and uplifting wushu celebrations worldwide.
