On September 22, the press conference of the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships was successfully held at the National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei.

The attending guests included Mr. Zhang Qiuping, Secretary General of the International Wushu Federation, Yang Mulia Awang Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei, Mr. Lim Boon Hwa, President of Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam, Yang Mulia Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman, Executive Co-Chairman of the 9th WJWC, Mr. Ang Ju Ming, Secretary General of the 9th WJWC, and Mr. Hajah Umi Kalthum binti Haji Abd Karim, Director of Brunei Youth and Sports Department.
At the press conference, Yang Mulia Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman, Executive Co-Chairman of the 9th WJWC, first expressed sincere thanks on behalf of the event organizing committee to the International Wushu Federation, sponsors, and supporters. He highlighted that the 9th World Junior Wushu Championships is an important opportunity to promote global cultural exchange and understanding, and Brunei is honored to provide a great platform for young athletes from all over the world to communicate and learn from each other.
Mr, Zhang Qiuping, IWUF Secretary General, expressed gratitude on behalf of President Mr. Gao Zhidan to the organizing committee for the meticulous preparation of the event. He emphasized that the World Junior Wushu Championships is the highest-level world-class wushu event for youth, playing an important role in the development of international wushu. With wushu becoming an official competition at the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympics, this World Junior Championships will serve as an important stage for discovering new wushu talents and nurturing future Youth Olympic champions. He looks forward to the outstanding performances of young athletes from five continents on the competition stage and expressed confidence in Brunei's ability to deliver an outstanding event.

Mr. Ang Ju Ming, Secretary General of the 9th WJWC, provided detailed information on the event’s preparation. The event logo is based on wushu movements, symbolizing unity and peace; the mascot named AWANG WUDI is lively and cute, interacting with guests on site; the medal design incorporates elements of Brunei's national flower, the Simpor flower, symbolizing the athletes' indomitable spirit. During the Q&A session, Mr. Ang Ju Ming mentioned that this World Junior Wushu Championships would not only promote Brunei's economy and tourism industry, but also provide valuable development opportunities for the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam and its athletes, further driving the vigorous development of wushu in Brunei.

The conference concluded with Yang Mulia Awang Haji Zakaria , Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports of Brunei, presenting certificates of appreciation to local sponsors, acknowledging their support.

The 9th World Junior Wushu Championships is hosted by the International Wushu Federation and organized by the Wushu Federation of Brunei Darussalam. The event will take place in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei from September 24th to 30th, and is expected to attract 790 participants from 50 countries and regions, including 498 athletes.
This World Junior Wushu Championships will feature two main events: wushu taolu and sanda, with a total of 81 gold medals up for grabs. The taolu competition is divided into three age groups, with 64 events for both male and female participants. The sanda competition is divided into two age groups, with a total of 17 events for both male and female participants. This WJWC will introduce 10 events for children's group (Group C) including elementary nanquan, nandao, nangun, 24-form taijiquan, and 32-form taijijian, aimed at fostering the balanced development of youth wushu, discovering and cultivating future stars for the Youth Olympic Games.
