The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has announced the candidates for the election of the eight athletes who will form WADA’s Athlete Council Group 2 for 2025-2027. Loan Drouard from France, the IWUF official candidate, is one of 26 nominees representing various International Federations, from which 8 athletes will be selected to form Group 2 of the WADA Athletes' Council for 2025-2027.
In October, the IWUF Athlete Committee elected Loan Drouard as a candidate for the WADA Athletes Council Group 2, who meets all of the eligibility requirements outlined in Section III.4 of the WADA Athlete Council Election Procedure. IWUF recognized the critical importance of having a qualified athlete advocate for wushu in this key role.
Loan has continuously displayed the high level of integrity befitting of WADA’s mission. His sportsmanship and his passion for wushu is strong, and he has been an outstanding ambassador for wushu, embodying the core values of fairness, respect, and transparency, which are fundamental to both our sport and the wider global sporting community. Loan’s extensive experience in the sport of wushu, his fluency in French, English and Mandarin, and his outgoing personality will undoubtedly aid in his ability to communicate and collaborate with fellow athletes on the WADA Athlete Council from around the globe.
The candidate biographies will be published on WADA website and social media on Tuesday 19 November. The election will be held virtually via an online voting platform between 10-12 December 2024. Only those IF ACs registered and deemed eligible will be able to vote.
