It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of former Secretary General Mr. Zhang Yaoting, who departed peacefully on 29 April, 2025 at the age of 89.
Mr. Zhang served as IWUF Secretary General from 1994 to 1995. During his tenure, he made historic contributions to the development and international promotion of wushu, strengthening the federation’s governance and expanding its global influence. Serving as President of the Chinese Wushu Association from 1991 to 1997, Mr. Zhang played a pivotal role in advancing wushu’s modernization and standardization. His lifelong dedication to the sport has left an indelible mark, inspiring countless practitioners and administrators across generations.
