Wushu and FISU
Wushu was officially introduced into the programme of the FISU World University Games in 2014. In 2017, wushu made its debut at the 29th Summer Universiade. In 2018, the inaugural FISU World University Wushu Championship was successfully held in Macao, China, marking a significant milestone in the development of wushu at the university level. In 2022, the FISU University World Cup Combat Sports was held in Samsun, Türkiye, from September 21 to 30. In 2023, wushu was once again included as an official sport at the 31st Summer Universiade in Chengdu, China, producing 20 gold medals and further demonstrating the enduring appeal and vitality of wushu among university students globally.
