On July 7, the IWUF 4th Taolu World Cup kicked off at Haikou Wuyuanhe Stadium. The event has attracted 206 athletes, team leaders, and coaches from 29 countries and regions, including 117 elite competitors. The first day featured 10 events – men's and women's changquan, nanquan, taijiquan, daoshu, and jianshu – with 10 gold medals awarded.
Team China dominated the opening day with four golds: Yang Yalin claimed the first gold of the event in men's changquan with a score of 9.803; Wang Yawen won women's janshu with 9.786; Wu Xu took women's taijiquan with 9.786; and Du Hongjie topped men's nanquan with 9.806. Team Hong Kong, China followed closely with 3 golds, 1 silver, and 1 bronze: YEUNG Michelle won women's changquan with 9.763, HUI Tak Yan Samuel triumphed in men's taijiquan with 9.783, and Chen Jinsong claimed men's jianshu with 9.760. Other teams also delivered strong performances: Team Singapore secured 1 gold and 2 silvers, with ONG Xue Ling Kassandra taking women's nanquan with 9.683; Team Indonesia earned 1 gold and 2 silvers, courtesy of Seraf NARO SIREGAR who won men's Daoshu with 9.786; Team Malaysia added 1 gold, as LEE Jia Rong won women's Daoshu with 9.736. In addition, Team Macao, China collected 2 silvers, Team Japan took 1 silver and 3 bronzes, Team Korea and Team Vietnam each claimed 1 silver and 1 bronze, Team Italy won 1 silver, and Chinese Taipei and Team Portugal each earned 1 bronze.
The arena was filled with a lively atmosphere, with spectators in high spirits and waves of cheers and encouragement echoing throughout. The distinctive styles of each discipline – the graceful and expansive movements of changquan, the powerful and explosive force of nanquan, and the harmonious blend of softness and firmness in taijiquan – were showcased to the fullest in the thrilling contests between top athletes. With their exquisite skills and outstanding performances, competitors from all teams jointly presented a spectacular and unforgettable wushu feast.
