As the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games draws increasingly near, and in order to comprehensively enhance the competitive abilities of participating athletes and help teams prepare efficiently, the International Wushu Federation officially launched the IWUF Online Training Camp for Wushu Taolu Athletes for the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games on September 1, providing targeted pre-competition guidance for young wushu athletes around the world.
The training camp lasted four days from September 1 to 4 and closely followed the official wushu competition events of the Youth Olympic Games. It offered four specialized open courses: Changquan, Taijiquan, Gunshu and Taijishan. The curriculum was highly targeted and professional, closely aligned with the practical demands of competition, and aims to help athletes standardize technical standards and improve the quality of their routines.
The IWUF invited top Chinese wushu coaches and authoritative specialists to form the teaching team. Each session lasted two hours, with content focused on movement specifications, movement routines, frequently occurring errors, and correction of key and difficult techniques for each event, providing detailed analysis and practical specialized guidance for participating athletes.
On the first day of the camp, Mr. Li Yongqiang, Chairman of the IWUF Technical Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Combining the standards of the Youth Olympic Games and the international development level of wushu, he set clear requirements for all participating teams. He emphasized that all participants must strictly observe competition discipline and conduct, regulate their behavior in competition, and prepare with a professional and focused attitude, fully demonstrating the Olympic spirit and the uplifting spirit of young wushu athletes.
This IWUF Online Training Camp attracted more than 60 Youth Olympic Games participating athletes and coaches from around the world. The classes were orderly, and the trainees were fully engaged. They greatly valued this opportunity for specialized improvement and recognized the teaching effectiveness of the training camp.
The Dakar Youth Olympic Games wushu competition will be held from November 1 to 3 at the Dakar Expo Center in Senegal. The Games mark both the first Olympic event to be staged in Africa and the first time wushu will be an official competition event at the Youth Olympic Games.
