Promoting Mutual Learning Among Global Civilizations Through Wushu Services
From September 9 to 13, 2026, the Sports Services section of the China International Fair for Trade in Services was staged at Hall 6 of Shougang Park in Beijing. The section continued with the theme “Sports Event City, Linking the Globe,” focusing on sports event economy, technology empowerment, industrial aggregation and global synergy. The International Wushu Federation, together with the Chinese Wushu Association, participated as joint exhibitors and delivered a keynote speech on September 11 at the main sports forum.
Joint Exhibition: A Panoramic Presentation of Wushu’s Globalization Achievements
This year’s exhibition covered 6,600 square metres, attracting more than 60 exhibitors on-site and over 350 enterprises online. More than 40 international organizations and over 20 industry leaders participated across sports events and performances, sports technology, IP operations and sports tourism.
With the concept of visualizing event outcomes, scenarioizing wushu experiences and aligning cooperation resources, the IWUF and CWA enabled audiences to experience wushu up close through high-definition footage, data graphics, AI-powered taijiquan assessment, interactive taijiquan instruction and other immersive experiences. This embodied the CIFTIS spirit of cultural and sports integration, technology empowerment and open cooperation.
Keynote Speech: Practices and Vision for Advancing Global Wushu Services
On the afternoon of September 11, IWUF Secretary General Zhang Yuping delivered a keynote speech titled “Building a High Ground for Wushu Event Brands, Expanding the Blue Ocean of Wushu Services, and Promoting Mutual Learning Among Global Civilizations,” outlining wushu’s achievements and vision in event systems, standards promotion, services trade and global people-to-people cooperation.
She noted that the IWUF has built an official event system covering all groups, staging six flagship events including the World Wushu Championships every two years. Together these form a portfolio of sports services that is exportable, replicable and tradable. In parallel, the IWUF has advanced standardization and institutional development, the two pillars driving the global governance of wushu. Wushu was included as an official sport in the 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games in 2020, achieving a historic breakthrough as an official event of the Olympic series of Games.
The IWUF continues to deepen its alignment with international sports norms, advance the industrialized operation of event IP, and accelerate the integration of digital technology with wushu. Taijiquan was inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2020; in November 2025, UNESCO officially designated March 21 as International Taijiquan Day. The IWUF will continue to deepen cooperation with UNESCO and give full play to wushu’s role in promoting health and exchanges among civilizations.
Secretary General Zhang concluded that the IWUF will continue to rely on platforms such as the CIFTIS to cooperate with governments, international organizations, sports organizations, research institutions and corporate partners, promoting the development of wushu standards, events, cultural industries and social welfare projects.
