Member News | 2026 IOC Olympic Solidarity Bangladesh National Technical Course for Wushu Coaches Successfully Concludes

From April 6 to 15, the 2026 IOC Olympic Solidarity Bangladesh National Technical Course for Wushu Coaches was successfully held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. This 10-day training course was conducted with the support of the IOC Olympic Solidarity. Following Nepal, this was the second time a National Olympic Committee had successfully applied for and obtained funding specifically for the promotion and development of wushu.

At the request of the Bangladesh Olympic Association and the Bangladesh Wushu Federation, and under the guidance of the IOC, the IWUF, as the international federation governing wushu, appointed two wushu experts, Li Fukui and Zhang Kun, as instructors. They systematically delivered cutting-edge wushu concepts, professional knowledge, and teaching methods to 43 coaches from across the country.

The opening and closing ceremonies were attended by Md. Aminul Hoque, Minister the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh; Major Imroz Ahmed, Vice President of the Bangladesh Olympic Association; Md. Jubaidur Rahman Rana, Secretary General; former Director General Brigadier A B M Shefaul Kabir; Mr. Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh; ASM Ridwanur Rahman, President of the Bangladesh Wushu Federation; and Md. Dildar Hasan Dilu, Secretary General of the Federation.

The 10-day training course covered both taolu and sanda, aiming to systematically enhance the professional skills and coaching abilities of the participants. The taolu curriculum included training methods for young athletes, the third set of international wushu competition routines, competition rules and deduction criteria, and scientific physical conditioning. The sanda curriculum covered training plan design, practical drills, technique standardization, tactical guidance, and on-site coaching.

Md. Aminul Hoque, stated, "The Bangladesh Wushu Federation is one of the leading sports organizations in the country. The Ministry of Sports has always supported and will continue to support its development. Through this training course, 43 national coaches have received high-quality systematic training, and through them, wushu will spread to all parts of Bangladesh."

Bangladesh actively participates in regional and international wushu competitions. Its wushu athletes have won medals at events such as the South Asian Games, the Islamic Solidarity Games, and the 2024 International Wushu Invitational Tournament, demonstrating the strength and spirit of the Bangladesh wushu team. This training course will systematically enhance the professionalism of Bangladesh's wushu coaches, transforming advanced theories and techniques into practical coaching abilities for training athletes. This will continuously strengthen the foundation for wushu development in Bangladesh, enhancing its popularization and sustainable growth within the country.
 

This training course marks an important milestone for the technical capacity and career development of national wushu coaches in Bangladesh and is of great significance for promoting the development of wushu in the country. With the joint support of the IOC Olympic Solidarity and the IWUF, such assistance programs continue to help promote and popularize wushu worldwide.
