From June 27-July 3, 2024, the International Wushu Federation successfully held the 2024 International Wushu Coaches Training Course in Jiangyin, China. A total of 136 international wushu coaches from nearly 30 countries and regions around the world participated. The event was attended by Zhang Qiuping, Secretary General of the International Wushu Federation; Zhang Yuping, Director General of Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and President of Wushu Research Institute of the General Administration of Sport of China; Zhou Jianping, Vice President of the Chinese Wushu Association, President of the Jiangsu Wushu Association and Founder of Heilan Group; Li Yongqiang, Deputy Director of Wushu Administrative Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, Vice President of Wushu Research Institute of the General Administration of Sport of China and Chair of the IWUF Technical Committee; and Jin Xiaobing, Chair of the IWUF Judges’ Committee.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Zhang Qiuping, Secretary General of the International Wushu Federation, stated that the purpose of holding this International Wushu Coaches Training Course is to inherit and promote the spirit of wushu, to cultivate more outstanding wushu coaches, enhancing their technical proficiency and coaching abilities, and promoting the global dissemination and development of wushu.
The training included Taolu and Sanda courses. Nearly 20 top experts, who are experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled, imparted the most advanced and cutting-edge wushu concepts, professional knowledge, and teaching methods to the coaches. The curriculum covered various subjects, including wushu theory of each competition event, technical and physical training, psychological adjustment, and anti-doping. The combination of theoretical and practical teaching methods greatly benefited the coaches.
