On the morning of June 10, the preparatory meeting for the 10th World Kungfu Championships (WKFC) was held in Beijing, China. IWUF Secretary General Zhang Yuping listened to reports on the event preparations and outlined key tasks for the next phase.
At the meeting, Xu Tianyi, Vice Mayor of Leshan Municipal People’s Government; He Dan, Party Secretary of the Leshan Sports Bureau; and Zhang Yongbiao, Member of the Emeishan Municipal Standing Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, provided detailed updates on the preparations and expressed that the Leshan Municipal Government attaches great importance to this event. Building upon the experience of previous WKFCs, it strengthens organizational and resource support, and coordinates the advancement of preparatory work including event organization, promotion, logistical reception, sponsorship cooperation, and security measures. These efforts aim to enhance the event's prestige and influence, showcasing the unique charm of traditional wushu.
The relevant department heads of the IWUF Secretariat and the Chinese Wushu Association, drawing on experiences from the previous championship, exchanged views with the Organizing Committee on various aspects of this year's event including competition organization, technical services, opening ceremony, promotion and publicity, reception services, supporting activities, personnel registration, and sponsorship cooperation, while providing professional guidance.
Secretary General Zhang Yuping expressed full affirmation of the preparatory work by the Organizing Committee. She emphasized the need to strengthen organizational leadership, clarify responsibilities of all parties, and ensure efficient progress in preparations. A smooth communication mechanism should be established among IWUF, the Chinese Wushu Association, and the Organizing Committee to accelerate progress, refine task allocation, and enhance personnel training. Strict adherence to safety protocols and improvement of emergency response plans were highlighted. Zhang stressed the importance of comprehensive publicity efforts by leveraging both mainstream and new social media platforms to showcase the event's unique features while integrating local cultural and tourism elements, thereby enhancing the event's overall influence. Additionally, she called for robust risk prevention measures, proactive public opinion monitoring, and positive media guidance to ensure the successful hosting of this world-class wushu gala that demonstrates the sport’s distinctive characteristics and showcases its splendor.
