The IWUF became an official member of the International World Games Association (IWGA) on May 27, 2021, and wushu has also been included as an official event in The World Games 2025. As an official member of the IWGA, the IWUF was invited to nominate wushu athletes for the 2024 World Games Athlete of the Year selection. In this selection, there are a total of 22 outstanding individual athletes, pairs, and teams, each nominated by their respective International Federations (IFs). Among them, the candidate for wushu is Xin Tong from China.
Xin Tong is one of China’s most notable wushu champions, specializing in Taijiquan and Taijijian: she has won many top national and international awards. Her international debut was at the Asian Games in Hangzhou in 2023, where she became the champion in Women's Taijiquan &Taijijian All-Round. In 2024 she was the gold medalist in Women's 42-Style Taijijian at the 4th World Taijiquan Championships, and also in 2024 she became champion in Women's Taijiquan and Taijijian at the National Wushu Taolu Championships.
