Grand Opening of 13th World Wushu Championships in November

The 13th World Wushu Championships (WWC) will be held from 11th to 18th of November in Jakarta, Indonesia.


The World Wushu Championships (WWC), hosted by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), features the highest competitive level within the sport. The championships take place biennially, with this year's version organised by the Indonesian Wushu Association (IWA).


The countdown has started with only 120 days before the opening ceremony in Jakarta. Are you ready?


The competition venue of the 13th WWC will be Istora Senayan, which is located in central Jakarta with a capacity of 5,000 spectators. The arena has been used for many international events and has witnessed the development of several world sports.

 


The IWA has been devoted to increasing the reputation of Wushu as one of the most important and significant sports in Indonesia and globally. The aim is to educate people to edify and appreciate Wushu, not only as a sport but also as a means to a healthy lifestyle and martial art for self-defense while reinforcing relationships and friendships between Indonesia and other participant countries, or among each of the participant nations. With the experience of managing the largely successful 2nd World Junior Wushu Championship in 2008, 7th Sanda World Cup in 2014, Mr. Supandi Kusuma, the President of the IWA, expressed his confidence in organizing a successful IWUF event this year.The marquee event will once again contribute to the International Wushu scene by putting the values and honor of this precious wushu on display to the world.


The competition events of the 13th WWC consist mainly of two main disciplines, namely, Taolu and Sanda. Taolu Events include barehand events, weapon events and duel events, which are Changquan, Nanquan, Taijiquan, Daoshu, Jianshu, Gunshu, Qiangshu, Nangun, Nandao, Taijijian, Xingyiquan, Baguazhang, Shuangjian, Dadao and Duilian. Sanda Events include 11 categories for men's events and 7 categories for women's events.


As a special treat, this November two famous mystery kungfu movie stars will be attending the splendid event. Let's look forward to the grand opening of the 13th WWC!
